Big $ Change
This past week we talked about change as Dr. Schwarz mentioned in his post. After following many companies and their ticker symbol over the years, there are quite a few that have went from nothing to everything. One of these is Netflix. They are the epitome of change. Using a new and innovative way, they took over the movie/video game rental industry without utilizing the traditional brick and mortar strategy. They took advantage of todays ever changing technology and ran with it. Now utilizing streaming movies and Internet rentals, their stock has sored or $45 per share this month and almost $24 the past 5 days. They have caused the industries giant, Blockbuster, to file for bankruptcy this week and are now the new giant. On top of utilizing the worlds new technology they have added an iPhone and iTouch app that allows the consumer the opportunity to watch movies and TV shows anywhere. This is a complete and dominant way to use IT and become the face of the industry through change. http://blog.netflix.com/2010/08/netflix-now-available-on-your-iphone.html

Youtube Good or Bad?
I spent some time on the effects of facebook and how these social networking sites are working their way down to young children. Now I will spend a brief time on Youtube. I understand that there is a lot of money to be made on this site and that there are also ways to get the notoriety or publicity to make it to a certain point in ones career. However, what about the downfalls of it. Floyd Mayweather was recently caught on tape while he was talking to a friend and making racist remarks about Manny Pacquiao. Of course this may be the typical star athlete constantly running his mouth and trying to have some so called "fun", but this may have landed him in much more trouble.
Mayweather was also arrested recently on 8 charges while four of them were felonies. I happen to believe that he is holding out on a boxing match with Manny so he can stir the pot as much as possible, which in turn will generate millions in revenue when they actually fight. Now that he has been arrested on theft, domestic violence, and assalt and battery, I dont think any judge will find any way to believe that Mayweather has great if any character at all. Not only does he have many charges pressed against him, he has proven evidence that he really doesnt have any respect for anyone in any way shape or form. He may not have planned on getting in trouble, but do you honestly believe there is any way to prove his innocence or even explain that it was bad judgement and out of character? To me there is not a chance. I guess maybe youtube doesnt have many downfalls after all. Maybe its good to find the hidden truth in people. What do you think? Racial Remarks Floyd Mayweather

The Future
Well here goes my second blog. What do you think about the future of social media or how much more we can actually grow? I know in class Dr. Schwarz mentioned that we are only at the beginning of the ever growing IT world, but other than syncing devices in cars and mobile devices, can you really think of what else there is left? I'm calling it now that cars will literally be driving themselves on autopilot. Other than that, who knows what’s next. Here is an article about where social media came from and what possibilities are ahead for the next 5 years.

Children & Social Networks
Todays society offers a tremendous amount of social networking opportunities. Is it really necessary for young kids? Many of us may have no clue that there is a legal age limit to create a Facebook account. Even though there is an age limit of 13 years old, I see many kids much younger who have facebook pages. Even my 3 and 5 year old cousins have one. Due to the amount of people using social networking sites, parents and educators see a reason to train the younger generations. There have been a few companies that have designed some sites to help kids as young as 5 learn to use these sites. Is it really helping them be aware of their future network surroundings? Or will this enable some young students to better navigate around social networking sites as future predators?
